September 2026
Dear members,
We've had a really encouraging few weeks across Bury St Edmunds & Stowmarket CLP, with a recent surge in membership and more people looking for ways to get involved locally.
I want us to build on that momentum. Whether you've been a member for years or have only just joined, there is a place for you in our local party — campaigning, attending meetings, helping behind the scenes or simply coming along to meet other members.
Building in Stowmarket
Relaunching our Stowmarket Branch
Yesterday we held a meeting to begin relaunching the Stowmarket Branch of the Labour Party.
It was great to see the passion and enthusiasm in the room, and a real desire to strengthen Labour's presence in Stowmarket and the surrounding communities. I am particularly keen that we continue building our organisation in this part of the constituency and create more opportunities for members locally to get involved.
Thank You
A brilliant Summer Social
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Summer Social. It was a fantastic evening and a great opportunity for members to get together outside our usual meetings and campaigning.
We were also delighted to receive special video messages from Bridget Phillipson and Lucy Powell.
Westminster
Parliament is back
Parliament returned yesterday after the summer recess, and the Prime Minister has already hit the ground running.
We'll continue keeping members updated on the work of the Labour Government, as well as the issues Peter is raising on behalf of communities across Bury St Edmunds & Stowmarket.
Visit Parliament
Interested in a tour of Parliament?
We're pleased to be able to offer members the opportunity to visit Parliament again.
The tours themselves are completely free — you simply need to arrange and pay for your own travel to London. It's a great opportunity to see inside the Palace of Westminster, learn more about how Parliament works and experience one of the country's most historic buildings.
New Website
Our new CLP website is live
We've launched a new website for Bury St Edmunds & Stowmarket Labour, bringing together information about our local party, our MP and councillors, news, and ways to get involved.

There's a role for everyone
The strength of our CLP comes from our members. With membership growing, now is a really good time to get involved.
You don't need previous campaigning experience and you don't have to commit huge amounts of time. If you'd like to help with campaigning, events, communications, your local branch or activity behind the scenes, we'd love to hear from you.
Find out how to get involvedThank you, as always, for your continued support. There is a lot happening across our constituency and I'm excited about what we can build together over the months ahead.
Best wishes,
Tom Howard
